The 2008 Aglianico del Vulture Basilisco is darker, richer and more powerful than the Teodosio, owing to the older age of the vines and aging in French oak barrels. Plums, blackberries and smoke are some of the notes that take shape in the glass. Violets, mint, licorice, bacon fat and tobacco add complexity on the big, deeply expressive finish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
