There are two single vineyard Pinot Noir offerings, one from the Arrendell Vineyard in Green Valley, and the other from the Russian River vineyard called Sanchietti. I have a slight preference for the Arrendell cuvee because of its richer, more complex nose. However, both are expressive and fragrant, with excellent levels of black cherry and smoke intertwined with meat, herb, and spice notes. The 1996 Pinot Noir Arrendell is more marked by new oak than the 1995. While very good to excellent, it does not possess the flavor, length, and overall equilibrium of the 1995. One of the star estates in the Kendall-Jackson group known as Artisans and Estates, Hartford Court is a "showcase chateau" in the Russian River Valley, just off Martinelli Road. I have enjoyed everything this winery has released to date.
