The Meursault Les Meix Chavaux (two-thirds from 60 year old vines with the balance having been planted in 1986) displays a deep floral and nut-infused nose and a medium-to-full-bodied, oily-textured, hazelnut, white flower and pear-flavored character as well as an admirable finish. Anticipated maturity: Now-2002. Given that they are the first whites ever produced by the domaine, I was pleasantly surprised by their quality.
As always, ratings with a score in parentheses indicate the wine was tasted from cask, not bottle.
