The 2001 Willow Bend (an intriguing blend of 45% Merlot, 32% Shiraz, and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon) does not have quite enough complexity to merit an outstanding rating. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it for its terrific fruit presence, nicely integrated toasty oak, dense, plum, fig, licorice, and currant notes, medium to full body, and easy-going, consumer-friendly style. Enjoy it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Dan Philips, The Grateful Palate, Oxnard, CA; tel. (888) 472-5283
