The Pinino 2012 Brunello di Montalcino shows savory characteristics of dark smoke and dried fruit that are uniquely reflective of the vintage. The wine reveals brooding aromas of cherry confit, blackberry preserves and dried fig. Yet, those dark fruity tones are set against thicker layers of spice, tobacco and leather that give the wine a better sense of unity and balance. In other words, this is a big and bold Brunello from all points of view. The results are contemporary, broad and generous on the nose. The mouthfeel is much thinner and short by comparison.
