Caprai’s 2010 Montefalco Rosso comes across as a bit feminine and lightweight in this vintage. Sweet red cherries, flowers, tobacco, spices and licorice all take shape in the glass, but the wine’s medium-bodied structure suggests the Rosso is best enjoyed over the next 2-3 years at most. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2014.
Marco Caprai remains one of the leaders in Montefalco. This year, Caprai has a new wine, a single-vineyard 2007 Sagrantino that emerges from a parcel next to a pond that gives these vines a unique micro-climate.
