Campo al Mare, owned by the Folonari family, is located in Castagneto Carducci. Consulting oenologist Attilio Pagli has turned out another gem in this 2004 Bolgheri Rosso. A highly attractive blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc aged in barrique, it presents expressive notes of ripe dark fruit, sweet toasted oak, earthiness and minerals along with a soft, open-textured personality. Although it may not be the most complex wine to come out of the region it offers much drinking pleasure at a very reasonable price. It should drink well over the next five or so years.
