The 2006 Solare has maintained its integrity over the years and opens to dark fruit aromas of prune, plum and dried cherry. Tertiary aromas of licorice and crushed granite are only just beginning to appear, adding an extra layer of complexity and intensity. Like the other wines from Capannelle, there is that distinctive touch of rusticity that characterizes this Sangiovese-Malvasia Nera blend. It won't appeal to everyone, but it does speak to the cooler conditions of the Gaiole in Chianti area.
