The 1998 Gran Reserva, from a decent vintage, bears a family resemblance to the above two wines. It was aged for 24 months in French oak before being bottled in 2001. It is beginning to show some maturity in the glass with a brick red rim and mature fruit aromas of black fruit, cedar, and a whiff of licorice. The tannin is fully integrated and the flavor profile, consisting of smoke, herbs, currants and black cherry is attractively feminine. Drink this elegant wine over the next 4-6 years.
