The 2005 Puligny-Montrachet Enseignieres takes the aromatic complexity and delineation of the 2004 and ramps it up a few notches: here stunning mineralite and tension reminiscent of the 2005 Corton-Charlemagne. The palate is precise on the entry with pitch-perfect acidity, linear at first but, then fanning out beautifully toward the long and tender finish. This represents one of the finest vintages I have tasted from this vineyard. Tasted November 2013.
Here is another raft of wines from the most feted and yet still mysterious Cote de Beaune growers. Jean-Francois Coche’s reds are more elusive than his whites, but they can be astonishing.
