The 2012 Mira is a blend of Monastrell, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha Tintorera from a dry and early harvest with a little lower ripeness than in previous years. The grapes are cooled down and put through a cold soak for five days, fermented during ten days with automatic pigeage and went through malo, 25% in the stainless steel vats, and the rest in barriques. The wine had an élevage of 12-16 months in 225- and 500-liter French oak barrels, one third of which were new, which was the policy at the time. It just felt like a more extracted and more generously oaked version of the 2012 Puerto Salinas, and it dried my mouth with the tannins. The palate feels a bit thin. Drink sooner rather than later. 22,000 bottles produced.
