I admired all three of these Pinot Noirs, particularly their aromatics. If my judgment were based on smell alone, these wines would merit 90+ ratings. Similar comments to those I made for the Estate can be attributed to both the 1993 Rincon Vineyard (726 bottles produced) and 1993 Rosemary's Vineyard (786 bottles produced) Pinot Noirs. Both wines possess outstanding bouquets. Although firm, structured, and tannic, with good concentration, they are less exciting than the flashy display of intriguing Pinot scents suggests. Perhaps 1-2 years of cellaring will reveal more depth and richness. Both are impressive, well-made wines. Readers may want to insert these tannic, structured 1993 Talley Pinot Noirs in a blind tasting with some of the most tannic and acidic 1993 red Burgundies. The results would be interesting.
