The 2014 Savigny les Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières comes from south-facing vines and had in fact, already been bottled when I visited the domaine in November. It has a defined, slightly tertiary, loose-knit bouquet that coalesces in the glass, a touch of autumn leaf infusing the brambly red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, tightly knit at the moment but with a keen thread of acidity and plenty of salinity coming through on the finish. Drink over the next 3-4 years.
