Even by Mosel and estate standards four different lots of wine with otherwise identical names is rare, but the 2007 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett A.P. #7 and three others struck Haag as too distinct to suite themselves to blending. Any of the quartet (though one – the A.P. #4 – was for now awkwardly sweet-sour) should hold well for at least 6-8 years. Fresh apple, crushed stone, and alkaline notes in the nose lead to a very delicate – almost slight – palate, yet the finish here delivers lots of dripping ripe apple, lightly-toasted cashew, and wet stone, with perfectly integrated sweetness enhancing the character of what many observers (including this one) would call “true Kabinett.” Marcus Haag has enjoyed another highly successful vintage in 2007, when his harvest lasted from October 12-27.Various importers including Winebow Inc., Montvale, NJ; tel.
