A blend of 50% Chenin Blanc, 30% Viognier and 20% Chardonnay, the 2010 Petit Blanc is missing a little expression on the nose at the moment but there are some attractive green apple and cold steel aromas. The palate is well balanced with attractive green apple, kiwi fruit and a touch of pear, leading to a simple, fresh finish. Drink now-2014. Vondeling is a Paarl-based production established in 2001, although the oldest vines are actually 27-years old. Their 45-hectares of vines hone in on classic French grape varieties, and these were augmented three years ago upon the acquisition of a neighbour’s plot that included Petit Verdot and Pinotage. No US importer.
