The 2004 Finca Gorys Criespiello is from a single vineyard planted to the indigenous Criespiello grape. It was sourced from 100-year-old vines and was aged for 24 months in a mix of new and used French oak. Opaque purple in color, the nose is muted but reveals toasty oak notes and an assortment of blue and black fruits. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is firm and structured and a bit austere in the mouth with ample, spicy black fruits providing balance. It will benefit from another 6-8 years in the cellar to flesh out the mid-palate. Drink it through 2025. Vinedos y Bodegas Pablo fared well in last year’s tastings. These releases from the outstanding 2004 vintage are equally good. The winery farms biodynamically and makes use of indigenous varietals from their estate vineyards.Importer: Tom George, Frontier Wines, Dover, NJ; tel. (973) 328-4500
