The youngest red, the 2016 Viuda Negra Nunca Jamás, is pure Tempranillo with varietal aromas of licorice and berries, sourced from the higher parts of different vineyards where the soils are very poor. It fermented in open-top, 225-liter oak barrels with four to five daily punch-downs. It had an élevage in barrel that provided a creamy nose and texture along with spicy and smoky flavors and aromas, which gives it an approachable, commercial profile. Very pleasant. 14,000 bottles were filled in May 2017.
