Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2009 Barossa Gold Shiraz gives spicy / peppery hints over a core of warm blackberries, blueberries, anise, loam and a whiff of tar. Full bodied with just enough ripe, spiced blackberry flavors, it has rounded tannins, crisp acid and a long finish. Drinking well now, it should keep to 2014. Tscharke’s Barossa Gold label represents good value wines made from the Glaymond range’s de-selected barrels.Importer: Martin Scott Wines, www.martinscottwines.com
