A little reduced to begin, 2011 Girl Talk Savagnin offers delicate scents of warm apples, fresh pears and nectarines with nuances of white pepper and chalk dust. Light bodied and dry with a decent concentration of primary apple and stone fruit flavors, it has crisp acidity and a straightforward medium to long finish. Drink it now through 2013. Tscharke’s 2010 Girl Talk Savagnin offers a moderate intensity of waxy lemon, ripe apple and white pepper aromas plus some dill seed. Medium bodied and crisp in the mouth, it has a good concentration of pear and citrus fruit flavors and a medium-long finish. Drink it now to 2013. Tscharke’s 2009 Girl Talk Savagnin is medium straw-colored with aromas of mineral, lemon-lime, and honeydew. Crisp and lively on the palate but without much depth, it will pair well with raw oysters over the next 1-2 years. What was once thought to be Albarino that was propagated from suitcase cuttings from Galicia turned out to be an obscure grape from the Jura region of France called Savagnin. Unfortunately, this was not discovered until the vines were into production and examined by a viticulturalist.
