The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Vette di San Leonardo is a ray of sunshine with tropical fruit, green papaya, tomato leaf and fragrant night-blooming jasmine. The wine shows a lot of energy or movement with a fluid bouquet that changes with each approach. The lean, spicy style is terrific for near-term drinking when its fruit is freshest.

From a warm vintage, the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc Vette di San Leonardo is floral and fragrant with decisively tropical themes of green papaya and guava all backed by plenty of yellow rose and honeysuckle. Compared to the 2018 vintage that is a bit thinner, this vintage shows a tad more textural padding and fiber. Fundamentally, the wine remains lean-bodied and tonic, but some of the vintage warmth is transmitted through the fruit. This northern Italian Sauvignon Blanc concludes with a fresh squeeze of citrus or grapefruit. Some 98,000 bottles were made.

The wine's very lean and compact mouthfeel would make a refreshing complement to Thai spring rolls or pad Thai with peanut sauce.

The 2017 Sauvignon Blanc Vette di San Leonardo is a zesty and refreshing wine that opens to simple aromas of white peach, passion fruit and preserved lemon. This warm vintage feels more textured and rich in terms of mouthfeel, and the aromas are a notch less direct and intense as a result.

The 2016 Sauvignon Blanc Vette di San Leonardo is a fragrant and lively white wine that stays true to the varietal nature of the grape. From the mountainous north of Italy with snow-capped mountains and glacier-cut rock formations, this wine reflects the sharpness and the brilliant intensity of the panoramic territory that shaped it. The bouquet is redolent of exotic fruit and passion fruit with subtle mineral definition at the back. The finish is a bit short and is otherwise less impactful.
