The 2008 Barolo San Pietro is further along its evolutionary track. This wine was released three years ago. The bouquet shows layers of dried fruit, spice and crushed cardamom. There are delicate fruit tones of wild berry and cassis, followed by dried flower and lavender. The finish is dusty and dry, and the tannins are completely integrated now.

Fresh and elegant, this red delivers cherry and raspberry flavors, joined by hints of tar and licorice. This is all backed by a base of gritty tannins that need to be absorbed into the flesh and fruit. The sweet cherry aftertaste bodes well for aging.
