The 2013 Rosso di Montalcino shows jammy fruit notes with ripe cherry and raspberry followed by mild spice and moist earth. The wine flaunts its youth and simplicity with straightforward confidence and good cheer. It closes with a blast of bitter cherry and astringent tea leaf. I would pair it next to spicy sausage flatbread. Drink this Rosso within the next 24 months.

The 2012 Rosso di Montalcino opens to rustic, earthy tones of sweet spice and dried cherry. It’s a very young wine that seems older than it really is. The wine is amply concentrated and dense with a bright spot of acidity that helps to bring it home. Drink: 2014-2017.
