Still revealing plenty of tannin, the 1989 Barbaresco exhibits a sweet, cedary, tobacco, spicy, cherry bouquet and flavors. Full-bodied, with excellent density and extraction, but slightly rough-textured, this large-scaled wine can be drunk now or cellared for up to 15-20 years. This wine is unequivocally from the traditional school of Piedmontese winemaking. Its rustic side, evidenced by huge quantities of ferocious tannin, is accompanied by deep, full-bodied, concentrated wine with layers of pure, ripe fruit. Impressive!
