Tenuta Alzatura is owned by the Cecchi family of Castellina in Chianti in neighboring Tuscany. The 2015 Montefalco Rosso is a blend of 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino and 15% Merlot, all aged in French barrique for 14 months. This is a nicely balanced red with lots of dark fruit layering, succulence and exuberance. That happy richness is very much a part of the vintage personality, and it's nice to see it transmitted to this wine in such a clear and seamless manner. Some 13,000 bottles were made.
