Here's an informal, easy-drinking red wine to wash back with grilled sausage or hamburgers at an outdoor barbecue. The 2016 Sicilia Nero d'Avola is a balanced and fresh red wine with a lean mouthfeel and lively acidity on the close. The wine is aged partially in barrique for 12 months (just 30% of the total), and the rest is thrown into steel vats. You get characteristic aromas of cherry, wild fennel and green olive. Some 100,000 bottles were made.
