The 2008 Blauburgunder Riserva (Pinot Noir) is a very pretty, striking wine laced with perfumed red cherries, crushed flowers, licorice, tobacco and herbs. With time in the glass sweet, candied notes develop, adding complexity. Hints of fragility on the finish suggest the 2008 is best enjoyed over the next few years. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2015. I found many delicious wines in this lineup from St. Michael Eppan. The house is best known for their top of the line Sanct-Valentin wines that emphasize textural softness.
