The 2013 Stoned Crow Syrah is a fine example of what Syrah grown on the Gimblett Gravels is capable of. It's peppery up front but not underripe, blending those spice nuances with blueberry, blackberry and black olive fruit, and framing all that in an understated structure of cedary oak. The tannins of this medium to full-bodied wine are silky, making this immediately approachable, yet it should drink well for another decade.
