The 2017 Envoy Chardonnay Johnson Vineyard is toasty, rich and overtly worked on the nose. In the mouth, the wine has a turned butter acridity to it, while the fruit exists on the ripe, yellow flesh spectrum. I can't see this evolving positively in the future. Drink it soon. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

Smoky, toasty and melon-scented, the 2015 Envoy Chardonnay Johnson Vineyard is a plump, medium-bodied white that coats the mouth with the sensation of silk. Melon and pear flavors are balanced by hints of lemon and lime on the crisp finish.

The 2014 Envoy Johnson Vineyard Chardonnay offers a nose of warm apricots, honeyed toast and lemon butter with a waft of butterscotch. Medium-bodied, it has plenty of stone fruit and toasty flavors on offer in the mouth with a lively backbone and a cedar-laced finish. It is a little old-school, but nicely done.

The 2012 Envoy Johnson Vineyard Chardonnay has aromas of apricots, mango and honeydew melons with a cedar undercurrent. Medium-bodied, it offers a decent core of melon fruit with noticeable oak and a long, toasty and woody finish.
