This curiosity, made from 100-year old white Grenache vines, reveals a copper hue to its straw color in addition to an interesting perfume of apricot jam intermixed with earth, spice, and citrus. Eccentric, controversial, and reminiscent of the unusual dry white wine made at the famed Chateauneuf du Pape estate of Rayas, it cuts a large swath across the palate, but is not heavy. Bordering on being oxidized, it is worth inserting this unusual offering in a blind tasting to see what sort of response it elicits. Expect people to either adore it or detest it. It should age well for 2-3 years, perhaps longer.
