The 2000 Carignano (100% Carignan) is a notable offering. When cropped low and produced from old vines, Carignan can be an impressive wine young, but it never seems to develop much character with age. This medium-bodied offering displays a deep ruby color along with scents of black cherries intermixed with loamy soil scents, pepper, and earthy/leathery characteristics.
