The 1971 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is showing well, offering up aromas of hazelnut, iodine, lemon oil and crisp green apple, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and compact palate that's firm, chalky and somewhat rustic. This is a fine effort that has stood the test of time unlike so much contemporary white Burgundy, indeed I suspect it would have been unyielding for the first two decades of its life, even if it's a touch short on elegance and dimension.
