A blend of 60% Shiraz, 25% Mataro and 15% Grenache, the 2009 Heinrich Shiraz Mataro Grenache has a deep garnet-purple color and aromas of warm cassis, crushed blueberries, baking spices and dried plums with hints of toast and forest floor. Medium bodied with a good amount of juicy fruit in the mouth and crisp acid to enliven, it is softly textured with a medium level of tannins and finishes long. Drink it now to 2016. The 2006 Shiraz (61%)-Mataro (28%)-Grenache (11%) is purple-colored with an already complex bouquet of cedar, leather, underbrush, pepper, black cherry, and blueberry compote. Powerful and structured on the palate, it offers up gobs of savory black fruits and spice notes, and a long, pure finish. Cellar it for another 5-7 years and drink it from 2014 to 2026.
