Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Petite Sirah Royal Punishers features notes of baked plums, dried blackberries and stewed cherries with hints of balsamic and fried herbs plus an earthy waft. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy with a somewhat rustic finish.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Petite Sirah Royal Punishers features black fruit preserves, anise and spice box with dried herbs and earth. The medium to full-bodied palate is firm and chewy with a lively core and an earthy finish.

The 2015 Petite Sirah Royal Punishers is inky purple-black in color with a warm plums, blueberries and cherries-scented nose with touches of spice box, dried herbs and earth. The palate is full-bodied, taut and packed with youthful black fruits, with firm tannins and a spicy finish.

The 2014 Petite Sirah Royal Punishers hails from Rutherford and has a wonderfully juicy blackberry and cassis nose with white flowers, licorice and incense. It is full-bodied and opulent without a hard edge to be found. This is a beauty that comes in at 14.9% natural alcohol. Drink it over the next 15 or more years.

Another classic from Robert Biale is the 2013 Royal Punishers. This wine, which emerges from a vineyard in Rutherford, has a black/purple color, stunning, almost off-the-charts richness, and a killer finish of nearly a minute. It was aged in 30% new French oak for 17 months prior to bottling. It is an amazing wine that tips the scales at 14.9% alcohol, which is not all that high for a Biale wine, as both the E.B.A. and Like Father Like Son hit 15.5%. This wine should drink well for 10-15 years.
