The 2010 Txakoli Rezabal was made from a single estate vineyard planted to Hondarrabi Zuri, the indigenous grape of the region. Fresh citrus fruits, green apple, mineral, and a hint of saline inform the nose of a crisp, dry, refreshing white that is the perfect match for oysters on the half-shell. The estate bottled 2007 Txakoli Rezabal is composed of 80% Hondarrabi Zuri and 20% Hondarrabi Beltza. Pale straw colored, it offers up a slight effervescence from trapped CO2, as well as an attractive nose of banana and other tropical notes. Crisp, dry, with elevated acidity balanced by plenty of fruit, the wine has good depth and length. It is an ideal match for Spain’s fabulous shellfish and Ipswich fried clams.
