The 2008 PETIT VERDOT “FORAL DE PORTIMAO” was aged for 6 months in new French oak. It opens smooth and silky, but there is a lot more going on here, including a considerable bit of funk on the nose that emerges with air and some tannic bite that pops up as well. Solidly constructed, this is not the most charming wine in the world, but with the right food matchup, it might acquit itself well. Still, its funky, somewhat herbaceous demeanor did not serve it in good stead. Drink now-2017.There is no USA importer at this time for this Algarve winery. It runs around 9-10 Euros in Portugal.
