The 1991 Barbaresco Torre is obviously not comparable to any of the wines produced by this co-op in 1990 or 1989. Nevertheless, it is an attractive, fully mature, medium ruby/garnet-colored wine, with a textbook weedy, tobacco, tar, rose petal, and dried cherry fruit-scented nose. Sweet on the attack, with elegant, medium-bodied, savory flavors with no hard edges, it should be consumed over the next 5-6 years. Given the stratospheric prices of high quality Barbaresco and Barolo, this wine is a very good value.
