Readers will find a much more intense wine in the 2009 Primitivo 17. Juicy dark cherries, flowers and spices wrap around the palate in this deep, muscular wine. Primitivo is such a quirky grape, that finding balance can be tricky. For my palate, the 17 is a bit on the sweet side, while the finish is abrupt and lacks polish. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2017.
