My favorite 1995 Peachy Canyon Zinfandel is the 1995 Zinfandel Old Bailey Ranch (14.6% alcohol). It possesses a deep ruby color, as well as a gorgeously seductive nose of pepper, sweet black-cherry fruit, and spice. The wine's excellent richness, chewy fruit and glycerin on the mid-palate, in addition to its spicy, smoky finish, all make for an excellent mouthfilling, savory style of Zinfandel. Drink it over the next 2-3 years. One of my favorite Zinfandel producers, Peachy Canyon has turned in a bevy of wines that are good, but well-below the high quality of previous vintages. However, the wines, with their angular personalities, are typical for the vintage, with less glycerin and extraction, yet more acidity. In spite of the high alcohol, the wines are not comparable to the intense richness of fruit found in such vintages as 1994, 1993, 1992, 1991, and 1990.Tel. (805) 238-7035
