The 2012 Paso a Paso Verdejo (an indigenous varietal that is making better and better wines in the hands of top Spanish producers) exhibits attractive notes of lemon oil, white currants and tangerine skins. The wine is medium-bodied and fresh, but falls off quickly in the mouth. Consume it over the next 12 months.
Bodegas Volver, a joint venture between importer Jorge Ordonez and Rafael Canizares, produces wines from huge holdings of 252 acres in La Mancha, 457 acres in Alicante and 125 acres in Jumilla. Some of the wines are fashioned from organic grapes, which is made clear on the label.
