The organic Novaia 2018 Valpolicella Classico Superiore I Cantoni (with 3,500 bottles released) is rather simple and stripped down with redcurrant and brambly fruit tones. There is some toasted almond and soft spice. This is an easy-drinking wine that is perfect for roast chicken or other home-cooked comfort foods.

The certified organic Novaia 2017 Valpolicella Classico Superiore I Cantoni is not totally clean in terms of bouquet. There is some animal or mild Band-Aid that distracts from the easy purity that Valpolicella usually delivers. This wine also shows lots of baked and ripe fruit from the very hot and dry 2017 vintage. Past vintages of this easy red have been excellent, but this edition is weaker. The blend is 50% Corvina, 30% Corvinone and 20% Rondinella. Production is 4,000 bottles.

This blend of 50% Corvina, 30% Corvinone and 20% Rondinella sees 20 days of appassimento and 18 months in oak. Only 5,000 bottles were made of the 2015 Valpolicella Classico Superiore I Cantoni, a bright and fruit-forward red with a mid-weight build and fragrant tones of bold cherry, blackberry and plum with mildly dried tones of raisin and figs. This hearty wine would pair well with a not-too-spicy version of chili con carne.

A floral nose, with cherry, citrus fruit and a hint of freshly plucked mint. Medium-bodied, clean and firm, with bright acidity and a cherry and light chocolate finish. Best after 2008. 650 cases made, 300 cases imported.??–JC??Region: Italy / Valpolicella Classico Select to Add
