Tight and firm at its core, the 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Corte Vaona serves thick layers of dark fruit, dried blackberry, figs and dried plums. The 50% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta blend goes through 90 days of appassimento, then ages in oak for 24 months, so you can expect lots of spice, mesquite and barbecue smoke as well. But this vintage in particular results in a thickly concentrated and powerful wine that is great with cuts of rare, grilled steak. Some 10,000 bottles were made.
