This is a certified organic wine that is packaged in a heavy glass bottle. A blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot and 10% Syrah, the 2019 Maremma Toscana Nectar Dei reveals an inky dark appearance with rich tones of blackberry, chewy black plum, spice and cured leather. The wine excels in terms of saturation and richness, although the mouthfeel is relatively contained and not too heavy. This is a production of 7,000 bottles.

A brooding red, with black currant, blackberry, cedar, rosemary, mint and tobacco aromas and flavors backed by a tight weave of tannins. Ends with a slightly chewy feel and licorice note. Although the label on my sample is not final, this wine appears to have become part of the Maremma Toscana DOC. The 2017 Maremma Toscana Nectar Dei is a powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Petit Verdot (25%) and Merlot (15%). The wine is thick and densely concentrated, showing aromas of inky black fruit and a passing lactic note that is commonly found in this hot vintage. The core of the bouquet is firmly etched with dried blackberry, moist earth, sweet tobacco, hot tar and road paving. The wine ends with soft tannins and an evident note of tangy sweetness. It's perfect for braised meats. Some 8,000 bottles were made.

I published my review of the 2017 vintage of this "Nectar of the Gods" a little while back and am now reaching back to 2016 to keep the databased updated. The Nittardi 2016 Maremma Toscana Nectar Dei is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah with 5,646 bottles produced. This is a thickly extracted and rich red wine with black fruit, plum, spice, leather and sweet spice or toast. It is a medium to full-bodied red that can stand up to roast pork or grilled steak.

A mix of blackberry and iron flavors, with hints of tar and underbrush, are allied to a solid structure, with beefy tannins clamping down on the finish.
