Although the label on my sample is not final, this wine appears to have become part of the Maremma Toscana DOC. The 2017 Maremma Toscana Nectar Dei is a powerful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Petit Verdot (25%) and Merlot (15%). The wine is thick and densely concentrated, showing aromas of inky black fruit and a passing lactic note that is commonly found in this hot vintage. The core of the bouquet is firmly etched with dried blackberry, moist earth, sweet tobacco, hot tar and road paving. The wine ends with soft tannins and an evident note of tangy sweetness. It's perfect for braised meats. Some 8,000 bottles were made.
