Light pink/salmon colored, with lots of garrigue, melon and stone fruits, the 2015 Perle de Rosee is medium-bodied, balanced and refreshing, with plenty of texture that will keep it versatile on the dinner table. Drink this classic, well-made Rosé over the coming 6 months or so.

I continue to struggle with the rosés from this top notch estate in Vacqueyras, and the 2014 Vacqueyras Perle de Rosée, like the 2013, is lean and tart, with notes of white peach, citrus and mint. It does fill in nicely through the mid-palate, but there's not much charm here and a touch more texture would go a long way.

While I like the reds and whites from this couple, their rose is not my favorite. Showing plenty of peppery herb, spice and dried cherry fruit, the 2013 Vacqueyras Perle de Rosee is slightly unbalanced and tart on the palate. The 2012 was deeper in color, with a tad more fruit, but both play in the same stylistic ball park and quality range. One of my favorite southern Rhone estates, Montirius, which is run by the passionate Christine and Eric Saurel, fashions classic Gigondas and Vacqueyras from their roughly 143 acres under vine, 40 of which are in Gigondas. There is absolutely no wood whatsoever used and aging occurs all in concrete tanks. The wines show classic profiles and are always well made.
