Made in a mix of demi-muids and tank, then matured exclusively in demi-muids, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc la Crau de Ma Mere is a blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette, 20% Roussanne and 10% Bourboulenc. Hints of honey and toasted grain join lime zest on the nose, while the medium-bodied palate is silky yet taut and turns crisp on the finish. It's a wine that's skillfully built on the attractive tension between ripeness and freshness.

Despite coming across as medium to full-bodied, with a round, generous mouthfeel, the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc la Crau de Ma Mere is citrusy and almost racy in flavor profile, with notes of grapefruit, lime, green peaches and underripe melon all making appearances. A blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Clairette and 15% each Bourboulenc and Roussanne, the 2016 Chateauneuf du Pape la Crau de Ma Mere Blanc was matured in demi-muids. It shows grassy lime and pineapple notes on the nose and is just medium-bodied on the palate, finishing with fine shavings of lime zest. Drink it over the next couple of years while it retains its freshness and vibrancy.

I absolutely loved their 2015 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau de Ma Mère Blanc, which is made from 40% Grenache, 30% Clairette, 20% Roussanne and the rest Bourboulenc. Coming all from the clay and more limestone soils (which are great for white varieties) of the Montpertuis lieu-dit, this beauty has fabulous purity and freshness, with crisp pineapple, citrus blossom, flowers and hints of honeysuckle aromas and flavors. It builds on the palate, has good acidity and a clean finish. Drink it anytime over the coming 2-3 years.
