Cuomo’s 2006 Furore Riserva blasts across the palate with serious weight and density in its dark red fruit. The Riserva is not a shy wine, but frankly I find more pleasure in the straight Furore as the Riserva comes across as bit overdone. The Riserva is equal parts Per e Palummo (Piedirosso) and Aglianico, aged in new French oak. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2021. The 2004 Furore Rosso Riserva (Piedirosso, Aglianico) is a layered, perfumed wine redolent of grilled herbs, bell pepper, dark wild cherries, French oak, minerals and ash, all of which come to life in an elegant, refined expression. Medium in body, the wine possesses exceptional length and sweet, silky tannins that carry through to the long finish. This is a beautiful red from the rocky soils of Campania’s Amalfi Coast.
