Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2011 Limited Release Shiraz Mourvedre shows notes of crushed blackberries, Chinese dried plums, and cassis with nuances of licorice, fertile loam and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, it gives a generous amount of fruit in the mouth for its weight, is framed by a medium level of grainy tannins and offers just enough acid freshness to make for a long, harmonious finish. The 2009 Limited Release Shiraz / Mourvedre gives a medium garnet-purple color and aromas of ripe red plums, red currants, mulberries, vanilla pod and baking spices. Medium-bodied, it has very high acidity and taut fruit flavors supported by a medium-firm level of chewy tannins and finishing long and tangy. The 2008 Limited Release Shiraz Mourvedre is a bit of a triumph given the challenges of the 2008 vintage in the Hunter’s Valley, a region from which many wineries did not produce any reds. Medium garnet purple in color, it has fresh blackberry and warm raspberry fruit aromas with some earth, truffles, tree bark and black pepper. A waft of mushrooms. Medium body and a moderate concentration of fruit and earth flavors that are adeptly supported by medium, fine-grained tannins and medium to high acidity. Long finish. Drink now to 2016.
