With fruit from an excellent harvest in Montalcino, the 2016 Rosso di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne is an immediately attractive wine that flaunts fresh and balanced fruit intensity. Red cherries, dried blueberries and wild strawberries underline the wine's pretty primary characteristics. Sangiovese is picked from 10- to 12-year-old vines, and the vineyard site is registered for the production of Rosso di Montalcino (in other words, this is not leftover fruit from a Brunello vineyard). This gives the Pian delle Vigne team a greater opportunity to work on the sharp focus and accessibility of the wine. Drink this wine within the next five years.
