The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves (Domaine Gagey) is showing nicely from bottle, offering up aromas of red cherries, pomegranate, plums and woodsmoke. Medium to full-bodied, bright and vibrant, with powdery but youthfully assertive structuring tannins and fine depth at the core, this is one of the cooler, more classically balanced 2018s in the range this year, with lively fruit tones and bright acids, and it's a fine prospect for the cellar.
