The Nebbiolo grape shares a very close affiliation with the mountainous region of Valtellina but is far less common here in Valle d'Aosta. The Les Crêtes 2017 Valle d'Aosta Nebbiolo Sommet is a balanced and delicate red wine with fine aromas of wild berry, cassis, forest moss, violet and blood orange. The wine's structure is mild, and the accessible quality of fruit opens this wine up to a near-term drinking window with a wide selection of pairings, including a favorite from bordering Piedmont, the garlic-and-anchovy-heavy bagna cauda. This was a release of 3,300 bottles.
